Not so much. You know how Al Franken used to be on the radio, blasting Corporate America for it's greed, and ignoring the little guy? Turns out Mr. Franken neglected to pay workers compensation insurance for his employees. For three years.
Whoops.
So Franken finally admits there was an *ahem* oversight, and agreed to pay $25,000. Of course, it took the State of New York three years to get that money. Background is here. Franken claimed that the "oversight" happened because he had moved to Minnesota, and the letters were sent to his old address in New York. I guess the New York post offices don't know about change of address cards, or how to use a collections agency. But this little bit of information shows that Franken has been keeping in touch with his former Harvard buddies, and used the same address (to get donations to his campaign) that the State of New York used to try and collect the money they won in court.
So to recap, here's what we know: Al Franken didn't pay his workers comp insurance for his employees. When the State of New York found out, Franken still didn't pay. The State of New York took him to court, and won. Franken still didn't pay the judgement for three years, claiming he never got the "bill" from the State for the judgement. Franken also said he no longer lived at the New York address, yet used that same address to solicit donations from former Harvard schoolmates.
Perhaps Al needs to write a few new chapters for his book?
