Last night was a nail-biter. I've always felt that Game Three of a best-of-seven matchup is the critical game. If you are tied at 1-1, it marks the point one team begins to pull away. If it's 2-0, the team with no wins is in desparation mode, and anything can happen.
The Avalanche looked fresh, energized, and ready to put on a show for the hometown fans. Colorado scored first, and I figured the Series would be 2-1 by the end of the night. Detroit has had a problem of letting teams get back into Series. I've said that this team is different-that the younger players that haven't had a sip from the Cup have kept the veterans in games.
Last night was no different.
The Wings scored two goals in less than a minute to deflate the Avalanche balloon, and came away with a 4-3 victory. I'm still scratching my head why Theodore was in net for Colorado. He has given up 13 goals in three games. Your backup has played great every time Theodore has gotten pulled. Last night was a "must win", and your starter gave up 4 goals. Again.
I think the Avalanche will win the next game, and then lose the Series in Motown. Well done, Wings.
