Opening Day for the Broncos

I'm not sure how concerned I should be about the Broncos yet.

The first Quarter is almost in the books, and this is what I have seen so far:

Mike Shanahan is virtually unbeatable in the first game of the season.  Not many coaches prepare better than Shanny-however, the Broncos look a little flat today.

The Broncos still have some questions at running back..

Jake threw another pass with his left hand, this one was a completion however..

Javon Walker is a nice pick-up from the off-season.  Can't wait to see him in the open field..

The Bronco Offensive line is horrible today.  They have given up 2 sacks in the first Quarter, and Jake has spent more time on his back than Bill Clinton in his term as Governor..

Bronco Defense has been a bright spot-the Rams have been on the doorstep twice in the First, with only 1 field goal to show for it.

2 Bronco fumbles in their own territory.  Perhaps someone forgot to tell Denver Preseason ended 2 weeks ago..

I hope things improve in the next 3 Quarters..

++UPDATE++  The remaining 3 Quarters didn't look much better.  Jake made some por decisions, resulting in interceptions.  The Offesive line played much better in the second half.  Both of the RB's named Bell played well.  I like how one is a slasher, and the other is a breakaway guy.  Both running backs played well.  Defense was solid, considering how long they were on the field today.  A bright spot for them is that they held tough in the Red Zone, not giving up any TD's.  Brightest spot of the day?  Javon Walker.  Incredible body control, very strong, and solid hands.  Once he gets used to playing football again, he will be a major factor in the success of the Broncos.  Ashley Lelie who?

My Sun Devils continue to roll..

My beloved Alma Mater is doing well tonight, currently up several touchdowns over Nevada.  QB Rudy Carpenter is tearing up the Nevada secondary, with 5 TD's thru 2 1/2 quarters.  Bed is calling me, so I will have to get the highlights on ESPN tomorrow.

Makes the game next week up in Boulder much more interesting.  CU fell apart against a spirited CSU squad at Mile High.  I can't remember the last time CU started off 0-2.  Things don't look to get much better, as ASU comes to town with their high-powered offense, then the Buff take the road to visit Georgia.  Ouch.

Hopefully my Devils will go up in the polls-the are currently #25 in the AP, and not ranked in the Coaches poll.  I would guess they will jump up to 20 or 21, as there were a few losses in the Top 25, and a few close wins by some ranked teams.

Don't forget what happens to ASU in seasons that end in the number "6"...  ROSE BOWL!

++UPDATE++  Here is the recap of the game.  Rudy finishes with 5 TD passes, and 1 INT.  ASU is still using the running back "by committee", but put up decent numbers against a strong run defense team.  I am encouraged that ASU is making some plays on Defense this season (2 Defensive team scores in 2 games so far), as their defense was near the bottom of the entire NCAA field last year.  Next weeks game against the Buffs on the road will be a good test before Pac-10 play begins..

Good news from Northern Arizona..

My step-father, Bud has had a rough couple of weeks lately.  He has had some bad back pain, which turned out to be some disc problems in his lower back.  Has been doing some treatments, and hopefully thinks down there will loosen up and improve.

He also had his 100,000 mile heart checkup, and all tests came back perfect.  I always knew the guy had a big heart, it's nce to hear that it is also ticking fine!

My folks and brother are off to take a much deserved vacation in Michigan next week.  I have tons of great memories as a youngster spending time on the beach with my cousins, aunts/uncles, and the grandparents.  If you are ever in Michigan, and looking for a new spot, I highly recommend Pentwater.

Great recap of the "Path to 9/11" saga..

Found this post via Hugh Hewitt.

What does hypocrisy smell like, Lefties?

John Kerry has all the answers.

You can read his 5 point plan for success here.  I don't have time this morning to deconstruct his 5 points, but I promise to get to it later today.

I'm so glad this guy isn't in office.  Is it just me, but why is it every time I read something that Kerry writes, I use a monotone voice as I read?

Incredible writing by Peggy Noonan

Read it.  Then read it again, and call several people you know, and tell them you love them.  Do it now.

Chris Matthews is an Idiot.

Not that most of you didn't know that already.  Check out this exchange, where the host of "Hardball" says that talking about the Plame "outing" is "too complicated" to cover now.

Please note that Matthews covered this topic 27 times on Hardball when he thought Rove/Bush/Libby were guilty of outing Joe Wilsons wife..

This has to be the number one excuse a guy could use not to get married..

Hard to believe this kind of thought process comes from a Leftie.  Still think Brad Pitt is dreamy, ladies?

What a moron.

Happy Birthday to my big brother!

My brother, Herb turns 107 er, 42 today.  He looks pretty good for an old guy.  Has all of his teeth, a picture of his hair, and a great jump shot.  You'ld think that by being the younger brother, I'd be able to beat him in basketball every now and then, but he still schools me every time...

Happy birthday, bro!

I think this guy is on to something..

This forward thinker  is on trial for threatening a judge.  So what does he do at his trial?  Threaten that judge as well.  Which would lead one to believe that he would then get another trial, and yet another judge.

If he keeps doing the same thing, eventually he would run out of judges who are able to hear the case(s), and they would have to let him go, right?

Dang, I should have been a lawyer.  I could win 100% of my cases using this strategy!

So, to review, here's what you you do:

1. Threaten judge
2. Repeat until free

"Path to 9/11" update..

Thanks to Drudge, here is a small trip down memory lane..

What did Democrats think about CBS pulling the Ronald Reagan miniseries a few years ago?  Let's go to the way-back machine, Sherman..  Here are a few tidbits:

Senate Minority leader Tom Daschle later called the decision to pull the show "appalling." CBS "totally collapsed," he told National Public Radio.

Actress/singer and liberal activist Barbra Streisand, whose husband James Brolin portrays Reagan in the miniseries, said CBS "caved" to "an organized Republican spin machine." Indeed, Fox News Channel top talk host, conservative Bill O'Reilly, gave heavy coverage to the controversy, but it was The New York Times that first tipped readers to the tone of the docudrama.

(Boldface is mine)

Isn't interesting how they were against the network caving to pressure a few years ago, when CBS tried to run a hit piece on Reagan, but now when there is unfavorable light placed on Clinton, it's ok to exert that same pressure?  Interesting..

Please look to my previous post on how to voice your opinion to ABC!

Every blogger take note!

I posted late last night on e mailing ABC to voice your opinion on them running the "Path to 9/11" miniseries.  I left comments on other bloggers pages, have e mailed some of the big guns here at Townhall, and lo and behold, got some response!

Let's keep it rolling!

Check my post below, click on the link to send your thoughts to ABC, and by all means, trackback or link to my post to generate more hits to ABC.  You know the Left is mobilized to try and get this program yanked.  The more people from our side that we can get putting the same kind of pressure on ABC, the better..

So please, take a few minutes, write ABC, and then link to my post on your blog.  Let's get the message out there!

Every blogger take a minute, and write a quick note to ABC..

Please, please, click on this link to leave a comment for the folks at ABC.  Let them know that you hope that they won't buckle under the pressure from the Democrat leadership..

Are you aware that Democrat leaders like Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer sent a somewhat threatening letter to the higher ups at ABC today?  Don't let the Dems get their way!  Send a quick e mail to ABC at the above link to let your voice be heard.  The wackos on the left are doing the same thing to try and get the program yanked.  If we have equal or greater numbers from our side, hopefully ABC will see that, and let the program run..

Take 60 seconds and do it..

Thanks to you all..

**UPDATE**  Thanks to those of you who have sent messages to ABC.  And welcome to the "Muscleheads" out there!  Thanks for the link, Kevin!
