I see dead people.

The Cable news pundits on the Left (I'm talking to you, Keith Olberman nad Chris Matthews!) have a field day when President Bush commits a gaffe in front of the cameras.  Why no mention of this one, guys?

On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.

So now dead soldiers are showing up to Obama speeches?

A few more Obama slip-ups can be found here

Clearly the Police have taken care of all crime in and around New Orleans..

Because there must be nothing better to do than arrest a barber for cutting hair on a Monday just South of New Orleans.  I guess you could say the barber got "clipped"?

Halfway home..

Detroit wins Game Two by the score of 3-0.  Osgood has pitched two consecutive shutouts, and the Penguins have gone 135 minutes since their last playoff goal.  History is on the side of the Wings, as 30 of the 31 teams to take a 2-0 lead in the Finals have hoisted Lord Stanley's Cup.

Game Three is Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

Save your money.

The fetching Mrs. P and I went to check out the latest installment in the Indiana Jones saga. It was good, but came up short in our opinions.  There were some good chase scenes, a bit of humor, and beuatiful sets, but it just didn't have the flavor of the earlier movies.  I suspect some of it has to do with making sure that the movie is "family friendly" and doesn't do anything too over the edge.

I would make the comparison to the first Terminator movie, to the last one.  The lead character doesn't shoot a gun, doesn't kill anyone, and still offers a helping hand to a villian that moments before had tried to kill him.

I understand why they do it that way, but it makes the movie just come up short.  Wait for the DVD.

I don't know, Cindy. How about saying, "Thank You?"

Found this little gem in Sunday's Denver Post, and wondering how many others felt the same way I did when I read this part of the passage:

On this Memorial Day, I would like you to take a few moments from your day off and stare into the faces of grief.

Go to a nearby military cemetery and look at the American flags stuck on each grave and think of the person buried there who was killed for global domination or for the blunders and egomania of our leadership.

And remember, for every person buried there, 10 more loved that person and were shattered by the loss. Instead of saluting, softly say: "I'm sorry." On this Memorial Day, remember, too, to look at the pictures of Iraqi children being lifted out of rubble after their homes have been bombed by U.S. jets.

Please say, "I'm sorry" for them, also.

(emphasis mine)

So Ms. Sheehan feels that every soldier that has died was killed as a result of a quest for global domination, or because of errors of our Commanders-in-Chief.

Amazing.

One down, three more to go..

The Red Wings take the first step in obtaining their 11th Stanley Cup, beating the Pens 4-0.  Detroit sat Franzen (again-how bad can that head be hurting?!) and Chelios, and still managed yet another four-goal night.  Osgood looked more like Osgreat, pitching another shutout.  The Wings clearly were more productive on offense, getting almost a 2-1 advantage in Shots on Goal.  Detroit scored on a power play, a shorthander, as well as two "regular" goals.  Game Two is Monday night in Detroit.

Go Wings!

Oh no she didn't!

Hillary! clearly will do anything to get the nomination.  Notice I didn't say "win".

Sometime on Sunday..

Perhaps, Monday (hard to tell with the holiday weekend, and all), WAMK will pass 30,000 hits.  The end of August will mark the second anniversary of this blog, and I want to thank all of you that have made WAMK a semi-regular stop during your day.

We've had fun so far-spirited discussions on movie/candy rankings, some fun bickering amongst ourselves, a few guest posts from AmeriDan, lots of YouTube submissions from JDJ, comments from soothsayer that make us all roll our eyes, great time-wasters from GWK, and learning more about the thought process on the Left from Piker.

Hopefully, you've enjoyed what WAMK has brought so far, and will continue to come back in the future.  I think I have more fun reading the comments, than I do writing the posts.

Thanks to you all for making WAMK a fun spot on the 'Net.

Amazing impressionist!

JDJ sent me this one.  I like "Sean Connery" the best.

Headlines you won't read in the papers..

They are winning against all odds, overcoming not just terrorists, but other obstacles such as a lumbering Pentagon bureaucracy and weak-kneed Western intelligentsia whose media toadies trump every military error and harp on every isolated bad deed.

Now proven wrong, these same critics retaliate by ignoring what is a very big story.

Worldwide terror attacks have fallen off 40% since 2001, according to a study by Canada's Human Security Report Project, and support for al-Qaida in the Arab world has collapsed. The study found terror attacks had been overcounted because Iraq War atrocities distorted the figures. Security gains elsewhere included even sub-Saharan Africa, where the improvement was called "extraordinary."

Just as the conflict in Iraq is coming to a close, two related terror wars — in Spain and Colombia — are also seeing signs of victory.

Working with France's tough, savvy police forces, Spanish authorities on Tuesday arrested Javier Lopez Pena, the top terrorist of the Marxist ETA group responsible for 800 killings since 1968.

Lopez himself broke a cease-fire negotiated in 2006 and, assuming Spain wouldn't fight, resumed his bombings. His al-Qaida-linked group is now headless and unlikely to cause the same trouble. Sealing ETA's doom was the Spanish government's decision to confront rather than negotiate with the thugs, and then join with France.

9/10 thinking from Joe Biden..

Read the whole thing.  This is why this election matters more than any other in my lifetime.  The Democrats don't "get" it:

Sen. Obama is right that the U.S. should be willing to engage Iran on its nuclear program without "preconditions" – i.e. without insisting that Iran first freeze the program, which is the very subject of any negotiations. He has been clear that he would not become personally involved until the necessary preparations had been made and unless he was convinced his engagement would advance our interests.

To contrast, Charles Krauthammer:

Obama cited Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman as presidents who met with enemies. Does he know no history? Neither Roosevelt nor Truman ever met with any of the leaders of the Axis powers. Obama must be referring to the pictures he's seen of Roosevelt and Stalin at Yalta, and Truman and Stalin at Potsdam. Does he not know that at that time Stalin was a wartime ally?
During the subsequent Cold War, Truman never met with Stalin. Nor Mao. Nor Kim Il Sung. Truman was no fool.

Obama cites John Kennedy meeting Nikita Khrushchev as another example of what he wants to emulate. Really? That Vienna summit of a young, inexperienced, untested American president was disastrous, emboldening Khrushchev to push Kennedy on Berlin -- and then near fatally in Cuba, leading almost directly to the Cuban missile crisis. Is that the precedent Obama aspires to follow?

It's not just little boys that eat this way..

It's little girls, as well.  The little Duper will wolfe down 2 scrambled eggs one day for breakfast, and then eat a lollipop for lunch the next.  Very frustrating!
