Two races down, one more to go..

Big Brown is almost there.  He sure looks unbeatable, and would be the first Triple Crown winner since 1978.

Big Brown is led to a trailer by Herasmo Gonzalez as he departs Pimlico Race Course. He'll attempt to complete horse racing's Triple Crown by winning the Belmont Stakes on June 7 in New York.

Big Brown extends his big lead going into the final stretch of the 133rd Preakness Stakes.

What happened to "draining the swamp"?

When polls show that people are unhappy with the direction the Country is headed, many on the Left say that is a reflection of the Bush Administration, Iraq, the economy, etc.  I think that things like this story also come into play, and much more than we think.  Both Parties are responsible, and both Parties need to be held accountable.  I will single out Nancy Pelosi on this one, however.  She pledged to "drain the swamp".  She said that Congress would be a "pay as you go" Congress.  And she has not lived up to those promises.  Throw the bums out in november, both Democrat and Republican.

Red Wings doing their part to help the economy..

By having a Game Six, the Detroit Red Wings are doing what Government can't.  They are helping people, and the economy.  Think of all the people who work at the arena, taking tickets, selling concessions, cleaning up.  Then think of all the sports bars, where fans flock to watch the game.  Waitresses, busboys, bartenders.  Think of the quantity of dollars exchanging hands.  That's why there is a Game Six.  Not because Detroit can't put away pesky Dallas, but because they are doing it for the Community.  The Country.  The kids.  Game Six is tonight in Dallas.

Remember how Congress is all about employing a windfall profit tax on Big Oil?

What will they do about the sudden massive profits enjoyed by farmers?  Tax them the same way they want to tax windfall profits of Big Oil?  Or will they give them a pork-laden present in the form of the new Farm Bill?  Can't say I'm surprised.

Wednesday afternoon, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a much-debated Farm Bill, with a veto-proof 318-106 vote. The measure, stuffed with lawmakers' pet projects for local farmers, now moves to the Senate, where it is also likely to pass.

Bush, now traveling in the Middle East, has threatened to veto the $290 billion bill because it gives generous subsidies to farmers, many of whom are now reaping the benefits of higher food prices.

"Farm income is expected to exceed the 10-year average by 50% this year, yet Congress' bill asks American taxpayers to subsidize the incomes of married farmers who earn $1.5 million per year," he said in a statement Tuesday.

Dumbing down of the electorate?

Interesting viewpoint from the Spectator:

As Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has demonstrated in her last gasp effort to wrest the Democratic nomination from Senator Barack H. Obama, the moron vote can be very important. Once she is out of the race and seething back in Chappaqua (where life for Boy Clinton is going to be dreadful), the moron vote will continue to be very influential. As the race has gone thus far, almost no politician has made an effort to inform the electorate, and on four key issues the Democrats have only exploited the ignorance of the voters. On one issue even the Republican candidate, Senator John McCain, has been of no help in educating voters.

Back to Motown..

The Wings scored a goal with a guy barely in the crease (if he was even in there at all), which got disallowed.  The Stars score a goal with a guy clearly in the crease, which was allowed.  Go figure.  The Wings get their streak snapped, and get to go back to Detroit to wrap up the Series in front of the fans at The Joe.
