Is there really any purpose for this article?

Other than to show how BDS has now been expanded to cover the First Lady as well?

All of this comes to mind as I see, skirting across the newswires, a handful of generic photos and sidebar stories of Laura Bush out on tour recently with her twin Styrofoam peanut daughters, Jenna and Barbara, promoting a new children's book they all apparently, and yeah right, wrote together and isn't that sweet.

There is Laura, looking exactly as she has looked for the past eight insufferable years. Prim, a bit glassy, reserved, her hair some sort of ironclad helmet of awkward architecture, the very epitome of nice, meek, domestic Republican female, not making the slightest wave and hoping no one really notices because, well, she's just a woman.

So the guy who wrote this article dislikes the First Lady because she isn't outspoken enough, like Ms. Heinz-Kerry, forceful enough like Ms. Clinton, or as smart as Ms. Obama.  Is it safe to assume he admires an outspoken woman like Ann Coulter?  A forceful woman like Michelle Malkin?  A smart woman like Condi Rice?

I'm thinking he'd find a problem with those three examples as well, don't you?

Wings go up 3-0..

Last night was a nail-biter.  I've always felt that Game Three of a best-of-seven matchup is the critical game.  If you are tied at 1-1, it marks the point one team begins to pull away.  If it's 2-0, the team with no wins is in desparation mode, and anything can happen.

The Avalanche looked fresh, energized, and ready to put on a show for the hometown fans.  Colorado scored first, and I figured the Series would be 2-1 by the end of the night.  Detroit has had a problem of letting teams get back into Series.  I've said that this team is different-that the younger players that haven't had a sip from the Cup have kept the veterans in games.

Last night was no different.

The Wings scored two goals in less than a minute to deflate the Avalanche balloon, and came away with a 4-3 victory.  I'm still scratching my head why Theodore was in net for Colorado.  He has given up 13 goals in three games.  Your backup has played great every time Theodore has gotten pulled.  Last night was a "must win", and your starter gave up 4 goals.  Again.

I think the Avalanche will win the next game, and then lose the Series in Motown.  Well done, Wings.

Not that it would be a surprise to many of us

The difference in Atlanta..

I was watching bits and pieces of two basketball games last night.  First, it was Boston v. Atlanta in Game Four of their series.  Boston was leading 2-1, and came into the playoffs as the team to beat.  An informal poll of my basketball fan friends generally led to the same conclusion-the best games would be played in the West, with Boston waiting patiently to sweep whomever was left standing.

The Hawks were seen as cannon fodder, lucky to make it into the playoffs in the first place.  Two easy losses into the Series, the Hawks appeared to be living their destiny, but then something changed.  They came home.  Atlanta took Game Three to make things interesting.  Would they show up for Game Four?  Did they wake up the Three Headed Monster from Boston?

Atlanta indeed showed up for Game Four, and won it in front of an incredibily supportive, vocal home crowd.  Watching the game, it felt more like a college game (in terms of atmosphere) than the NBA Playoffs.  THe Atlanta fans were on their feet most of the game, were chanting "Let's go Hawks!" non-stop, and cheering every bit of effort put forth from the hometown team.  It was neat to watch, and obviously had an impact, as the Hawks evened up the Series 2-2.

Compare that to the Nuggets game, where the hometown fans seemed to know the inevitable was going to happen, no matter what.  There was polite cheering, a few chants of "Deee-fense", and another Nuggets loss and first round exit.  It was painful to watch.

I said to my neighbor yesterday if there is a loser in this year's playoffs, it's the Golden State Warriors.  They had a better record than a few of the teams in the East that made it in, yet the Warriors had the misfortune of playing in the West.  You would be hard pressed to convince me that Golden State wouldn't have put more effort into their games with the Lakers.  I would be willing to say they would have won at least one game.

Instead of getting swept.

Intimidating eyebrows?

It's okay to pluck 'em, just don't partially shave them.  Hip-hop musician "Soulja Boy" has been credited with the trend.  I can make it go away with one simple photo.  Just show the kids the picture below, and I guarantee they will stop the practice.

The next Terrell Davis?

The Broncos draft another big running back, late in the draft.  Could Ryan Torain from my beloved Arizona State be the next RB to benefit from Mike Shanahan's system?

ASU\'s Ryan Torain runs along the sideline before being tackled by an undentified Washington player at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe Arizona.

NYTimes, your bias is showing..

WAMK's own blog-vixen, Shining City noticed something when comparing the NYTimes reviews of Michael Moore's Farenheit 9/11 and Ben Stein's Expelled.  Go figure.

Note to the Avalanche..

If your goalie is on the right side of the net, and you see a sweater (for those of you in Tucson, in hockey, a "jersey" is referred to as a "sweater") with the name "Franzen" on it, beware.  Note how similar these photos are.  One was from Game One, the other Game Two.  Both offer the same result, a Wings goal.

Things getting darker for The Rocket..

Allegations are surfacing that he had a 10-year "relationship" with Country star Mindy McCready.  This won't help his defense in his defamation suit.
